About Us

We’re not just drone pilots—we’re engineers and builders based right here in Myrtleford.

Founded by Christian and Daniel, DCUAV was built to bring world-class tech to the High Country.

Christian’s background is in Maintenance Engineering, where he specialized in the reliability of heavy assets at a major steel plant. That industrial foundation—combined with years of industrial rope access—means he’s as comfortable on a rig as he is in a lab. He’s designed everything from submersibles to custom cinema drones for films like Mission Impossible and John Wick. He also spent years at CR Kennedy—Australia’s biggest tech distributor—supporting everyone from mining crews to university researchers.

Daniel is a former Marine Engineer from the oil and gas sector, with nearly 20 years of flying experience. An early adopter of UAV technology, he shifted from a marine career into aerial cinematography, where he designed, built, and operated some of the world’s largest heavy‑lift UAVs for major TV and film productions.

He has extensive experience across photogrammetry, LiDAR, multispectral, hyperspectral, RGB, gamma, and GPR payload operations, supporting research institutions and commercial clients throughout Melbourne.

As DCUAV’s ReOC holder, Daniel maintains type approvals for over a dozen UAV systems above 25 kg, combining engineering precision with deep operational expertise across survey, VFX, and advanced UAV applications.

We don't just "fly" drones; we understand the mechanical engineering behind them. We know how they’re built, why they break, and exactly how to keep them running in the field.

The Gear & The Credentials

We don't just fly hobby rigs. We're licensed (RePL) and type-rated for the heavy hitters: the DJI Agras T50 and T100. With our wide exposure to all industries using drones, we've got the hours in the seat to back it up.

The Track Record

Our team has supported some of the biggest names in Aussie industry and land management:

  • Ag & Environment: Altitude Ag, DEECA, EPA Tasmania, NRE Tasmania.

  • Mining & Research: Stawell Gold, Bluestone Tin, Melbourne, Monash, and RMIT Universities.

Why Myrtleford?

Because we'd rather be in the valley than the city. We're proud to be local, serving the farmers and growers we live next door to. Whether you need us to fly for you, or you're looking to buy a terrain-ready rig of your own, we're just down the road.
